Within Organic Food, Should Candy Be There?

By Rob Sutter

Organic food seems to bring about a litany of terms, though I believe "healthy" seems to fall within those ranks as well. This isn't something that's entirely untrue but to blend them together as if they mean the same might not be entirely accurate. Nonetheless, they are very much healthy for you but I feel like people's views on eating organic are limited. What people may not know is that products such as candy can be organic as well if you want to look for them.

Organic food is something which has been misconstrued since it appears like people only believe fruits and vegetables belong in this category. Reputable internet platforms like Colle Farmers Market are in existence but it's not like such products stop there. In fact, if you'd like to take a moment to research, you'll see that there exists sweet and candy which are created with the base components. Without any added colors to be seen, they are as pure and untouched as one could imagine.

The ingredients in these candies are sourced carefully and ensure the highest level of health, considering what they are. They aren't going to take the place of salads, for instance, as healthful food products but they're still treats which don't add anything that doesn't have to be there. In fact, you'll be hard-pressed to find one bit of candy in this category which contains unnatural dye. For example, you can kiss red #40 near the nutritional information label goodbye.

For instance, this past holiday, I came across a box of organic candy canes and I couldn't even begin to tell you how interesting these were. While the color seemed slightly off, the nutritional content was something that made me scratch my head in wonder. They were free of corn syrup, which is something that is seen in sweeter products, not exactly limited to candy. However, they possessed a more natural taste and it came with a moderately higher level of health, too.

I think it's unfortunate that I haven't paid more attention to organic food in the past because they are quite beneficial to one's health. While I'm sure people will cite the price as a reason to steer clear of them, I don't think that it's very fair. Organic products are worth their asking prices and then some, in my opinion. Sometimes we simply need to indulge in a sweet and I think that a piece of organic candy can be exactly what's needed.
