Simple All-in-One Cooked Breakfast Recipe

By Anukriti Parsai

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but it can also be the most difficult to prepare, as most moms will agree. There are lots of bread recipe available but to invent a new, flavorsome and nutritious dish to prepare every morning isn't a simple task. Below is a simple sausage bread recipe that is both healthy and easy to prepare.

Ingredients:

- Italian sausage - five hundred grams

- Italian bread - one (1) loaf

- Beefsteak tomato - one (1)

- Bell peppers (sliced) - 1 cup

- Mozzarella cheese (sliced) - 4 cups

- Sliced green olives - quarter (1/4) cup

- Black olives (sliced) - quarter (1/4) cup

- Olive oil - half a cup

- Balsamic vinegar - 1/4 cup

- Dried oregano - quarter of a tablespoon

- Dried basil - 1/4 tablespoon

- Salt - A pinch

- Ground black pepper - A pinch

- Chopped onion - two tablespoons

- Garlic (fresh diced) - one (1) teaspoon

Preparation:

- Heat the oven to 200C.

- Crumble the sausage and cook over low heat until nicely browned. Remove from the stove then drain and set aside.

- Roast the bell pepper slices gently and leave them to cool down.

- Slice the bread loaf in half lengthwise and then place it on a baking sheet, crust side down.

- Spread the crumbled sausages on the bread halves and then top with roasted bell peppers and sliced beefsteak tomatoes.

- Decorate with sliced mozzarella cheese, green and black olives.

- Bake the bread halves in the oven for 10 minutes.

- Mix the olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, pepper, dried oregano, dried basil, diced onion and diced garlic in a bowl and whisk them together.

- Drizzle over the baked bread and bake again for a further 2 minutes.

- Cut in thick slices to serve.

You can also use frozen bread dough to make the sausage bread. For this variation you will need:

- Frozen bread dough - one

To prepare:

- Let the bread dough thaw overnight.

- Roll out the bread dough to quarter-inch thickness on a clean surface using a rolling pin; try to keep the thickness even.

- You can dust some flour on the bread dough for smooth rolling. Ensure that the dough isn't too thin otherwise it will not hold the filling properly.

- Crumble and cook the sausage and add roasted bell peppers to the mix along with the sliced beefsteak tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, pepper, olives, balsamic vinegar and two (2) tablespoons of olive oil. Mix all of the ingredients well.

- Spread the ingredients on the rolled out bread dough and fold the bread into a sausage shape.

- Bake at 200 degrees C for roughly 30-35 minutes.

- Remove from the oven once the bread looks nice and brown on the outside and cut in slices to serve.
